Seeds&Chips: Novacart Group and IIT are presenting their bioplastic for a more sustainable future
From May 6th to May 9th Novacart Group wil be participating to Seeds&Chips, a food innovation summit held in Milan to present the bioplastic created in their research and development lab Punto Rosso, collaborating with IIT (Italian Institute of Technology of Genoa).
Novacart Group and IIT have been working together for a long time at the Punto Rosso lab to study new eco-compatible materials to be used in the food industry, specifically products that substitute plastic. The bioplastic that is being studied is 100% green and made from paper waste from the Novacart factories. The lab focuses on this new material which will be able to function as plastic but without the use of petroleum. Moreover, the finished material will be completely biodegradable and compostable.
Seeds&Chips is the ideal annual event to present Punto Rosso’s innovations to the public: from 2015 the Milan summit hosts several international speakers and exhibitors, among which are companies, managers, startups and universities. The summit allows them to present the best ideas to improve the food industry’s sustainability, with the goal of reducing the negative effects on the environment, malnourishment and climate change.
