Easter recipe: the nest cake
Ingredients:
For the cake:
- 12 oz of flour
- 5 oz of sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2.5 oz of condensed milk
- 2 oz of whole milk
- 3.5 oz of olive oil
- 0.5 oz of baking powder
- 1 grated orange peel (better if organic)
- 1 pinch of salt
For the filling:
- 14 oz of mascarpone cheese
- Nutella as required
For the decoration:
- 3.5 oz of chocolate sprinkles
- Small chocolate eggs with colorful sugarcoat
Preparation:
What we propose here is a delicious chocolate cake, decorated with traditional colored eggs, that you can easily buy at the supermarket.
- Start by preparing the cake: sift the flour and baking powder. In another bowl, put the eggs, flour and salt, and whisk them until frothy. Then add the orange peel.
- Add the olive oil slowly, mixing the batter and then add the condensed milk and whole milk.
- Add the dry ingredients slowly, mixing until the batter is without clumps.
- Use a 20 cm ring baking mold and pour the mixture, flattening it.
- Cook the cake in a pre-heated oven at 170°C or 338°F for 50 minutes. After the baking, let it cool down.
- In a bowl, mix the mascarpone cheese and the Nutella until you obtain a smooth cream.
- Cut the cooled down cake in halves, and fill it with the cream (you can use a sac à poche).
- Put the two halves back together, then cover the surface with the rest of the cream.
- Finally, decorate the surface with the chocolate sprinkles. Put in the fridge for at least half an hour.
- To complete the cake, put the sugarcoated eggs inside the cake hole, until you’ve created a “nest” full of chocolate eggs!
